The IDEA Awards, presented by the Industrial Designers Society of America, are one of the most prestigious awards in the United States, and highly regarded internationally. Each year, thousands of entries are submitted by design teams across the globe, with the finalists selected based on the results of a review of multiple assessment criteria including the innovation, user experience and social consideration of each design.

About the IDEA Awards

360-degree camera “RICOH THETA Z1”

With RICOH THETA Z1, significant improvements were made to the performance of our 360 degree camera, while remaining true to THETA's basic concept of “fitting in the pocket, always ready, and easy to shoot.” This compact body size is achieved by adopting an extremely bold and complex optical design in which two 1-inch sensors are placed in the center of the main body, five times larger than those (1/2.3-inch sensors) of conventional models. The twin sensors are positioned back to back to redirect the light three times using prisms.
