"Our ambassador Mike Muizebelt is a full time professional nature photographer with an outspoken passion for travel photography, especially on the African continent. But he equally enjoys creating atmospheric and interesting photographs in his own backyard; the coast of Zuid-Holland. His work is regularly published in (international) media and recently he has won no less than two awards in the prestigious European Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition.
With his photography he tries to capture the essence and unique characteristics of his subjects. Mike is a lover of close compositions where the subject really has to stand out. Challenging light and intriguing backgrounds inspire him to pick up the camera. He does not have a pronounced preference for certain subjects, although he clearly has a weakness for animals. Sitting still is "not his thing" and he sees himself more as a paparazzi for nature. When he sees a photo opportunity, he acts quickly, makes a nice picture and then moves on to the next subject.
This is where the challenge lies; anticipating the question "where is the next subject" for example when on safari. This gives a tension that he finds so beautiful in nature photography. Because you're at the mercy of things you can't control, it's always surprising!
