When I moved to Northern Germany many years ago and took my first pictures on the beach, that's when it 'clicked' for me .... At the beginning of her time as a freelance photographer, Nicole Oestreich mainly shot open air freelance work on beaches. At first these were stagings that even went so far as to send a group of financial managers into the water to capture their portraits (→ http://nicole-oestreich.com/das-bro-am-meer...). Later she made reports on an artist-festival and that is how she came upon another topic that hasn't let go of her since: Artists.
In the staged works of Nicole Oestreich, the discipline within each image is always recognisable. The trained architectural draftswoman is used to talking to architects about perspectives. This has also strongly influenced her photographic perspective.
For many photographers, unique themes run throughout their work. One of Nicoles themes is to photograph artists, one of whom includes Chilean street artist 'El Kote' who was one of the first people Nicole photographed in this series (Artista). He has been appearing again and again in her work ever since.
